Grades will be calculated in the following manner per Bayonne High School policy. Magister Jacobs does not have the authority change them: 10% - Homework 10% - Classwork - Classwork will be determined by participation in class. - 10 pts. per diem can be earned. - Points can be lost by tardiness, lack of active participation, being unprepared, being off-task, disruptions, et al. All points for a day will be lost for any use of technology devices (phones, Chromebooks, tablets, laptops, smart devices, etc.) that is not a scheduled part of the lesson. 20% - Quizzes - Quizzes are largely about memorization; verb/noun endings and vocabulary should be memorized on a daily basis (ca. 10-15 minutes per night). 60% - Test/Projects - Tests will be assigned for every two lessons covered in the textbook. All grammar topics and vocabulary in those lessons will be covered. Tests should be anticipated every 2-3 weeks.
Grades will not be curved - so don't ask. Respect yourself enough to work for the grade you deserve!
Test retakes are not allowed. If you feel there is an extraordinary circumstance, please speak to Magister Jacobs outside of class.
All work submitted late can receive a grade no higher than 70%. This includes tests taken/completed after their date.
If absent when an assignment is due, per Bayonne High School policy a student is permitted two days after his/her return to school to complete the assignment.
